Michael S. Amoroso

Michael Amoroso began serving on the board in 2011 and was elected to four consecutive full terms since. In those 12 years on the board, Mr. Amoroso has served on every committee and served as both President and Vice President. Mr. Amoroso is currently serving as Board President for 2026.
In 2023, Mr. Amoroso was awarded a certificate from the New Jersey School Boards Association (NJSBA) in Gratitude for 12 Years of Dedication to the Children of Freehold Township and the State of New Jersey. Mr. Amoroso holds a certification from the NJSBA as a certified board member.
Mr. Amoroso holds a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from Lafayette College and a M.S. in Software Engineering from Monmouth University. After various positions in Engineering with AT&T and Lucent Technologies, Mr. Amoroso opened a local business in Freehold Township using computer aided 3-D software to model interior spaces. Currently Mr. Amoroso is working as a certified kitchen designer (CKD) using modern technology to help clients design unique and custom interiors.
Mr. Amoroso and his wife Maria have lived in Freehold Township for 23 years, where they raised three daughters, all of whom attended the Freehold Township Schools. In 2023, Mr. and Mrs. Amoroso became grandparents to a beautiful granddaughter.

Vice President

Elena O'Sullivan

Elena O’Sullivan was first elected to the Freehold Township Board of Education in 2017 for a three-year term and reelected for a forth three-year term in 2026. Mrs. O'Sullivan currently serves as Board Vice President and is a member of the Policy Committee.
Mrs. O’Sullivan holds a BA in Child Study and Science from St. Joseph’s University, New York; MS Ed.in Neurophysiological Learning Disabilities from Brooklyn College; Graduate Certificate in Science and Math Education from Long Island University; and a 6th Year Professional Certificate from Staten Island College, in Supervision and Administration.
Mrs. O’Sullivan retired from the NYC Dept. of Education. She held positions as a Teacher, Dean, Programmer, Assistant Principal and Principal. She was employed with Brooklyn College as an Adjunct Lecturer, teaching Science Education to Graduate Students. She also worked with the Teachers Performance Unit in the Department of Education of the City of New York. Mrs. O’Sullivan and her husband Michael have lived in Freehold since 1990 and her son Andrew attended the Freehold Township Schools.

Renata Brand

Renata Brand was elected to the Board of Education in 2023 and reelected for a second three-year term in 2026. She currently serves on the Finance Committee. Renata Brand was born in Palermo, Italy and immigrated to America with her family as a young child.
She holds a B.S. in Accounting from Brooklyn College of the City University of New York. After graduation Mrs. Brand worked for Arthur Andersen & Co. and earned her C.P.A. license. Since then she has worked for private accounting firms and was self-employed. Mrs. Brand is currently retired.
Mrs. Brand and her husband Arthur have lived in Freehold since 2016, having moved from Brooklyn, NY. They have four grown sons and 9 beautiful grandchildren. The oldest granddaughter graduated college in 2022 and the youngest grandson is two years old.

Michelle Lambert

Michelle Lambert began serving on the board in 2010 and was elected to four consecutive full terms since. Mrs. Lambert previously served as Board President and Board Vice President and is a member of the Policy Committee. While her children attended township schools, she served as chair-person for various functions hosted by CRA PTO and DDE PTO, as well as Treasurer for CRA PTO.
Mrs. Lambert holds a B.S. in Finance from St. John's University, and a J.D. from Brooklyn Law School. After law school she practiced corporate tax law for a number of years and currently practices in multiple areas of law with her husband at The Law Firm of James R. Lambert.
Mrs. Lambert and her husband James have lived in Freehold since 1992, where they raised their three children, all of whom attended the Freehold Township Schools.

Neil Garguilo

Neil D. Garguilo joined the Freehold Township BOE in 2022. He majored in history at Fordham University and completed a teaching certification program. Mr. Garguilo taught special education in the NYC public middle schools for two years. Later, he transitioned to the corporate world and worked at FedEx as a manager.
Mr. Garguilo worked at other companies such as Hertz (Sr. Station Manager) and DCH Auto Group (Corporate Training Manager). Also, Mr. Garguilo taught at the college level for approximately two years as an adjunct professor teaching the principles of business. Later in life, he earned an MBA in General Business He retired in 2019 but is still active. He is a commissioner of the Freehold Township Historic Preservation Commission.
Mr. Garguilo loves to write and contributes articles to the Italian Sons and Daughters of America's newspaper. Mr. Garguilo has been a resident of Freehold Township for the last 7 years. He helped raise three children including one who is a teacher.

Todd Caissie

Todd Caissie is married and the father of three children. His youngest daughter attends Eisenhower Middle School, but he also has a daughter at Freehold Township High School and a son in law enforcement. He has been a Freehold resident for more than ten years and is actively involved in coaching local youth sports.
Todd has a PhD in Art History and Cultural Heritage and Preservation Studies and MA in Art History from Rutgers University and is the Deputy Director of the Montclair Art Museum. He has served on the Freehold Township Historic Preservation Commission and on the advisory boards of the Zimmerli Art Museum-Rutgers and the New Brunswick Internment Camp Museum.

Carmela Spieler

Carmela Spieler was elected to the Freehold Township Board of Education in 2024. Mrs. Spieler is currently serving as a member of the Curriculum Committee.
Mrs. Spieler holds a Master’s of Science Degree in Nutrition from the University of New Haven, CT. She worked in the healthcare industry in various capacities as a registered dietitian for over 17 years educating patients, staff and family. Education has always been her passion and she currently teaches Family and Consumer Sciences empowering students to learn important life skills.
Mrs. Spieler and her husband Ken have been Freehold township residents since 2001 where they raised their four children.

Emily Crosby

Emily Crosby was elected to the Board of Education in 2025. She currently serves as Chair of the Policy Committee.
Ms. Crosby holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Psychology from Monmouth University where she graduated with honors. A lifelong Freehold resident, Ms. Crosby formerly attended the Joseph J. Catena and Dwight D. Eisenhower schools.
At Monmouth, Ms. Crosby held a Peer Learning Assistant role where she supported lesson planning, facilitated classroom activities, and provided guidance to first year students on the transition into college. After graduating, Ms. Crosby began her career in disability services at Moceans Center for Independent Living Inc. in Long Branch, designing virtual curriculum for their pre-employment training services program. She then went on to develop the Education & Advocacy Department, focusing on the ADA, independent living, and systems advocacy. Ms. Crosby is now the Director of Youth Transition Services, leading Moceans’ Pre-ETS and paid internship programs for students 14-21 with IEP and 504 plans.
Emily lives with her parents and grandmother in the East Freehold home that she grew up in. Her mother recently retired from a lifelong career in education. Emily is the proud aunt of a West Freehold student/Freehold Township travel soccer player.

Peter Conforti

Peter Conforti is currently serving his first term for the Freehold Township Board of Education which began in January of 2026.
He had earned his Bachelors of Arts in Public Policy and his Masters in Public Administration from the University of Delaware. There, he met his wife, and they now reside in Freehold with their daughter.
Professionally, he has served in a variety of organizations in the financial planning and analysis (FP&A) space across NJ and NY.
Peter is a life-long resident of Freehold Township. He graduated from Laura Donovan, Barkalow, and the Contemporary Global Issues (currently known as Global Studies) Magnet Program at Freehold Township High School.
He also is a recipient of the town’s Raymond Kershaw Youth Humanitarian of the Year award and earned his Eagle Scout award from local Troop 155.
He is excited to continue to serve his community in his new role as an elected member of the Freehold Township School Board.
