Math
The ultimate goal of the mathematics curriculum is to ensure our students’ ability to develop and use mathematical skills in problem solving. Students learn to understand the role of mathematics and its application in an ever-increasing technological society. Students are expected to demonstrate proficiency in basic facts and computation. Students routinely share their mathematical understanding in both oral and written form with their classmates, teachers, and parents. Activities in the math curriculum involve the students in hands-on experiences in both large and small groups. Calculators and computers are integral technological tools in the curriculum. The content of the curriculum focuses on the following clusters: number sense, operations, properties, concepts, and applications, measurement, spatial sense and geometry, data analysis, probability, statistics, and discrete mathematics, patterns, functions, and algebra.
